I was supposed to meet up with Von yesterday afternoon but we couldn't decide on an activity (Singapore's really boring.... what else is there other than movies, shopping and eating??). Then she suggested going to the zoo.
What didn't I think of that?
It's an excellent place to visit! I haven't been there since I was, what, 7? That was probably during some school excursion and if I didn't recall wrongly, it was still called 'Mandai Zoo' then. THAT's how long since I've visited the zoo!
Unfortunately, the weather was less than coorperative. It was raining heavily on and off, so we decided to postpone the outing to today.
Got up early this morning and was all cheerful: the weather was perfect! We made our way there without any problems and began our trail through the animal kingdom.
It was so much fun. I really felt like a kid again (but there wasn't anymore skipping and running along the paths... too old and my legs are still achy from squash).
There were the lazy lions (the male lions looked less than impressive tho...), the smelly rhinos, the really beautiful peacocks (was so hoping they'd shed a few feathers that I could make into cool earrings), Von's favourite cats - the panther, jaguar and puma, the fighting primates (i believe the fighting is not supposed to be something common), a few horses, elephants......
the white tigers (so stunning!),
my favourite, the polar bears!! (the female one was so adorable; it was waving at us!)
and many, many more...
I think I was almost shrill when I saw how amazing the animals were... watching them and pointing and laughing like a silly schoolgirl.
And throughout the entire journey, the weather was cool with only a slight occasional drizzle. The day couldn't be better. At the end of the day, we settled at Ben & Jerry's for ice-cream and I tried Oat Cookie Crunch (ooo, sweet!)... Then it started to pour really heavily. But we were already heading back so it's all fine.
On our way back in the car, I was still looking at the 80+ pictures we took and was laughing over how silly I looked in some.
Then I reached home and impatient little me wanted to download the pics ASAP. So I borrowed a USB card reader from my brother, removed the SD card from the camera and waited for it to load.
Horror of horrors, only 2 pictures were shown.
??!!!!
I was beginning to panic. I removed the card from the reader and placed it back in the camera, hoping the pictures will still be there.
Still only TWO pictures.
WTF??!!!!
I have no idea what on earth happened to my other pictures! They were still fine when I viewed them and I'm absolutely sure I didn't delete them by accident!
Dammit. I'm so darn disappointed... I had so many pretty pictures to share!
Anyone familiar with the CASIO QV-R51 and can offer some advice?
Somehow I have a bad feeling it's the SD card that screwed up. It's some Made in China card. My own SD card has never failed me before (it's made in Japan one).
Bummer.
